An identity card belonging to a Moroccan Jewish teenager who came to England during the mass exodus of Jews from Morocco between 1958 and 1964. Moroccan Jews migrated after Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser began to exert influence on other countries in the region. Nasser’s persecution and expulsions of Egyptian Jews began in 1956. Morocco’s Jewish population shrank from 250,000–350,000 in the 1950s to about 2,000–2,500 people today.
